Organize your questions around learning standards

Standards categories and standards are the primary way to organize your questions on Podsie. They also help you get a sense of how students are doing on groups of related questions.

As an example of how to set up your standards on Podsie, let's look at a portion of the learning standards for an 8th grade science course in Texas (link here if image below is hard to see):

In this example, the standards categories would be:

  • Properties of Atoms
  • Chemical Formulas, Equations, and Reactions

Then, under the Properties of Atoms category, there would be these learning standards

  • 8.5(A) describe the structure of atoms, including the masses, electrical charges, and locations, of protons and neutrons in the nucleus and electrons in the electron cloud
  • 8.5(B) identify that protons determine an element’s identity and valence electrons determine its chemical properties, including reactivity
  • 8.5(C) interpret the arrangement of the Periodic Table, including groups and periods, to explain how properties are used to classify elements
  • 6.6(A) compare metals, nonmetals, and metalloids using physical properties such as luster, conductivity, or malleability

Here's an example of how to get started with setting up the categories and standards in the standards editor:
